WinPoker Review

WinPoker is a Windows based shareware program produced by Zamzow Software Solutions and has been around for many years. It is considered by many to be the best commercially available video poker software and it's hard to disagree with this given the features and price of the fully registered version.

There are 23 video poker variations available to play and analyze including Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Joker Poker and Pick'em Poker. In addition the pay table for each game is customizable and there is the ability to create ten non-wild games.

The game play offered by WinPoker is excellent, with simple but effective graphics. Input is taken by either keyboard or by mouse and play proceeds quickly and smoothly. Players can play the increasingly popular multi-play versions of each game with 3, 4, 5 and 10-Play offered in addition to the standard single line play. The level of assistance can be set from none to auto-play, with three additional intermediate levels of help. For all levels of assistance a number of statistics are tracked, most importantly the error rate and cost of errors made by the player.

WinPoker also has the ability to quickly analyze all of the 23 offered games no matter what pay table is used. This gives the precise return to the player given optimal play. Additionally a single hand may be analyzed and the returns for all 32 ways to play a hand are listed (similar to the Jacks or Better Tool).

Visit the WinPoker home page to download an unregistered shareware version of WinPoker. This version offers only one game (9/6 Jacks or Better) and limited functionality. To gain the full range of functions the registered version is able to be purchased. If you play video poker frequently in casinos this program will easily pay for itself.
